News Update
Local Band Highlights:
1)Supavillain: Definetly worth checking out. Download some tracks at www.supavillain.com There music is falls along the same lines as powerman5000 and static-x but with a more raw and brutal sound.
2)Deepabovesurface: A new lineup and more refined sound you can get a demo at one of there shows but the songs on the demo arent there best so take the time become a deepabovesurface member at www.deepabovesurface.com and get the tracks off the net.ya lazy bastards!!!
3)Deep6:Allright these guys have been around for a awhile and are more worth checking out as time goes by, go to a show get a demo or your genitalia will rot off. Or just download some tracks off of www.deep6.net but your genitalia will still rot off i commend this.

Thats all the local bands for this update Lets move on to other news Peter the other maintainer of this website is looking for some musicians to jam with in hopes of starting a deathmetal band and as for my current band Spookles expect to hear some mp3s by the end of the summer First song that will be released is titled "Welcome to the Pumpkin Patch" that is all for now on that subject.

As for national bands Kitties new album will be out next month and Oteps. By the way watch oteps new video for the song "warhead" its very insightful

contacting me for reviews
for anybody who wants a little review action, contact me at my email: heavy_6strings@hotmail.com please please please let me know in agoizing detail about your equipment. i love to know what is makin dat noize!!

i have found it is easiest to just give me a website and say review me. also i would like everybody to listen to the bands in review and let them and us know what you think. it is important for people to get input from everyone out there so they can grow musically in a good direction.

i know this thing is not that big right now, and we are working on that, but it seems like people are not getting involved in the community like i had hoped. bands just want us to give them a review. i would like people to spread the word and listen to bands in review.

also i think im going to start chattering about guitars and all the gear and essentials wherein.

Hello everyone. I saw this community on metal_inc and thought I'd join, seeing as it was in the Houston area. I moved here 8 months ago from the Chicago area. I'm not too much up on the Houston metal scene...from what I have seen it's a LOT smaller than it is up in Chicago.

xantilove
ok i have been asked to do a review of xantilove. http://64.4.14.250/cgi-bin/linkrd?_lang=EN&lah=d15f19e57977aec60a0666e15ae17c12&lat=1078021763&hm___action=http%3a%2f%2fwww%2epurevolume%2ecom%2fantilove

go there to listen to the music for yourslef. first i want to say something about emo. and its not nice. i dont know where emo came from but i dont like it. it sounds too wimpy and annoying. plus it has to be the most overdone and repeated thing i have ever heard. there are thousands of bands out there doing this emo/hardcore mixture and oddly enough winning battle of the band contests. i think this is just a small flash in the pan of music commercialism. people will eventually get sick of it and be done with it, like the 80s.

xantilove does a combo of emo and hardcore, screamo if you will. the mixture in every song so far is a emo-hardcore-emo sandwich. i like the hardcore thing. xantilove does a good job of mixing it up and not doing that build up and up shit. im partial to rough and abrupt transitions. note that i say good. everything is done good. there is talent, thats for sure, but its not really great and thats the difference. you have to do something really exellent to stick out. you have to do more than mix two popular genres.

now for the good news. there are alot of bands out there doing the emo shit and sucking at it. you guys are not sucking at all. you are doing all the obligatory emo/hardcore things beautifully. you play well, you scream and sing pretty good, the drums are very well thought out. the tone is really great (thankyou peavey 5150). like i said try to mix it up. more transitions, more variations in a song. the guitar melodies are pretty well comopsed, maybe you could work toward a more psychadelic tool-ish thing. whatever it is just do it better. personally i would never go to a xantilove concert, all the local joints have been flooded with this stuff. 2.5/5....stars

TodaysLocalReview:Iplaf
Today i will be reviewiing atascocita based local band Iplaf. If you would like to follow along you can listen to some sound clips off of there official website www.iplaf.com. Not only have I listened to their demo but have also seen them live and got to know them a little at a party. The overall sound is pretty heavy like a coalchamber, mudvayne, korn sound. Some people may call it a "knockoff." The recording seemed like it was done on a low budget but the same problems that are on the demo happen live to. For instance the vocals are too loud one second and then you cant hear a damn thing the next second. A good tip for the singer would be to try and keep a steady volume with his singing and growling and perhaps try to announciate his words better because everything seems to start to fuse together. The lyrics dont make sense all he talks about is doing drugs and high school and fake ass violence.u would think the guitar work is good, but after a few songs it sound repetitive. Same for drums and you cant even tell there is a bassist playing. As for live sshow they pur on a good stage performance dressing spooky, fake blood, and smashing tvs. Everysong is about the same speed. Needs more change and broken rythems. They are on to something but are far from there. I give these kids 2 out of 5 stars unworthy of a record deal. Also another tip would be to broden your horizons of where you play at. Fuelcybercafe is for pussys

Current Music: Iplaf-BlownKiller
